Fire Station #4
Birmingham, AL

Client: City of Birmingham
Size: 12,000 Square Feet
Completion Date: 2014

To meet the growing needs of Birmingham’s northwestern community, the City of Birmingham sought to establish a fire station that blends seamlessly with its residential surroundings. Strategically located on Oslo Circle near Lakeshore Drive, Fire Station #4 was designed as a welcoming and functional space that serves both first responders and the community.
This single-story brick and stone structure reflects the architectural character of the neighboring United Cerebral Palsy Center, ensuring harmony within the area. The three-bay station is thoughtfully equipped with a full kitchen, outdoor grilling areas, generous storage space, and comfortable lodging quarters for firefighters. Breaking away from the traditional fire station design, Fire Station #4 features bi-fold bay doors instead of standard roll-ups, paired with stained concrete floors that enhance its distinctive rustic aesthetic. More than just a place of service, this fire station stands as a symbol of safety, efficiency, and community-centered design.
