Serving the students and families of the North Birmingham community, the new Hudson K-8 School replaces the former school near the original location. Hudson, a 70,000sf facility, provides the space and upgraded equipment to enhance the learning experience of the area school children in a nurturing and safe environment.
Completed in 2009, Hudson was the consolidation of two area middle schools and elementary schools. The exterior use of pilaster and brick colors allows the students to experience a since of organizational structure and expression. The building primary entry corridor extends the length of the building serving as an access spine for the individual classroom wings to the south and the gymnasium and cafeteria to the north. The facility includes an interactive media center, several multi-purpose classrooms and a full and highly utilized gymnasium that supports the students as well as the entire community.
